A full hands-on day aimed at the novice. In pairs you will perform all the tasks that you can do at home on a regular basis to keep your bike in good working condition. Tasks will include cable replacement on gears and brakes, full set up and adjustment on both. Headset bearing cleaning and servicing. There is emphasis on the essential basics, wheel removal, tyre and tube replacement and general hints and tips that really improve your understanding of how your bike works.
All tasks will be fully demonstrated by myself along with an assistant (depending on numbers attending). You will then split into pairs and perform the tasks on your own bikes. Working in pairs has proven to be extremely effective in growing confidence because you get to perform the task twice.
Cost and Numbers:
Minimum of 6 to run the course.
Up to 8 people; £50 per head.
9 to 12 people; £40 per head
*If you have interest from more than 12 people for one day I would need to bring a 3rd mechanic with me to assist. This can be arranged so please ask. I would need 15-18 people and a large enough room to accommodate this in order to bring a 3rd mechanic along for the day
Duration of course 6 to 8 hours depending on numbers.
This course basically consists of what a cycle shop will carry out whilst doing a major service on your bike. The majority of shops charge at least £55 to carry out what you will be performing on the day. You effectively get your bike fully serviced and you learn a lot, for less than the cost of having your bike serviced.
Aimed at people who are more confident or have ideally attended the 1 day beginner course.
Working in pairs you dismantle your own bike down to the bare frame. All parts are cleaned and then the bike is reassembled.
Sounds simple! Trust me its not! The day is fully supervised and all tasks will be demonstrated by myself and an assistant. This course gives you a good personal insight into your own bike and you know that by the end of the day it has been rebuilt to the highest standard. This is the next step in bike maintenance. Giving you real confidence to tackle the slightly harder jobs and a better insight into the tools and equipment required to perform bike assembly.
Cost and Numbers:
Minimum of 8 – Maximum of 12.
£50 per head.
Duration of course 7 hrs approx.
This course is unique and certainly aimed at a confident individual who has ideally attended the 1 day beginner course or is confident working on their own bike. Working in pairs you use each others confidence and experience to perform the tasks and you have the added bonus of working on someone’s else bike aside from your own.
Not many shops offer a full strip down, clean and rebuild. A large, very well known shop in London charge £125 plus parts for this service so once again this course, just from a servicing point offers superb value for money.
